Hi Kim, Reef is the most adorable, sweetest animal you could ever imagine. He goes to the dog park everyday for an hour and is the most popular guy there. Runs with all the dogs, walks away if any get aggressive, the best disposition you could ever hope for. He's 60 lbs. of pure muscle and very big which is exactly what we wanted. Beautiful coat, doesn't shed though I realize that may change and it doesn't matter because that's a non-issue for us. Likes the cats though it's unrequited love. He steals their food whenever he gets the chance. Big eater, we have to be precise with measurements since he's always ready for a meal. He has a great bark but uses it only when he wants to play at home. I hope he'll become more of a barker as he gets older (doorbell, strangers, etc.) He's been described as a giant Muppet, Orphan Annie's sidekick and a "living smile". My face hurts when I come home from the park because it is such joy to see him wild and free. Our dog park is like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting--25 dogs at anytime between 5 a.m and 9 a.m.--week-ends, 75 dogs easily. Snow packs in his paws and I use Mushers Wax but that doesn't help much--after about an hour, he starts trying to get the rid of the little ice ballsthat form. I've had him groomed only twice--first groomer blew out his coat and he looked like an Afghan I know that Reef's disposition is, in large part, due to the early socialization and love you provided. You hit a home run, Kim, and we caught it! Thank you, thank you! Mary Lou & George |
